NTPI - Emergency Preparedness

The National Terrorism Preparedness Institute (NTPI) provides education and training for our Nation in terrorism awareness and emergency preparedness, response, and recovery. The Institute develops and delivers classroom and Web-based training that fosters community engagement and military integration. Courses are high-impact, hands-on, and scenario-intensive, as well as accessible to all audiences, including people with disabilities and within special populations. NTPI is one of the few pre-9/11 institutions of its kind.

All NTPI computer and Web-based training products meet SCORM compliance requirements. They also meet or exceed the requirements of Section 508 of the amended Rehabilitation Act of 1998 for people with disabilities.

Courses offered by NTPI include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Force Protection
  • General Aviation Security
  • Anti-Terrorism
  • Access Control for Port Security
  • Basic Port Security
  • Advanced Port Security
  • Terrorism Awareness
  • Intermodal Supply Chain Security
  • Planning Considerations for WMD Incidents

NTPI uses a cutting edge, fully digital video production and editing studio with a virtual studio set to produce scenario-based training and programs, such as its award-winning monthly program called Live Response. This 60-minute interactive satellite television broadcast and Webcast features news-style program segments and dynamic panel discussions among leading experts who share their experiences and knowledge on terrorism and disaster awareness, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. The program is aired on PREPnet and several satellite networks, including the Government Education and Training Network (GETN), Department of Defense (DOD) Warrior Network, Satellite Educational Network (SEN), and the Department of Justice (DOJ) television network, as well as through Web casting from the NTPI Web site.
