The Center for Public Safety Innovation’s (CPSI’s) mission is to develop and deliver high quality training for emergency and first responders, military personnel, and the general public, in a variety of formats—Web-based, video, broadcast, and face-to-face—using state-of-the-art technology and best practices in education and training. CPSI training focuses on public safety, the disaster preparedness cycle, illegal drug interdiction, community engagement, and enhanced quality of life for all.
CPSI has three divisions: the Multijurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force Training (MCTFT) program, the Florida Regional Community Policing Institute (FL RCPI), and the National Terrorism Preparedness Institute (NTPI). All three divisions work closely with partners, such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Department of State, and Department of Justice, to meet local and national training needs.
CPSI uses the latest in instructional technology to increase its impact and cost-effectiveness. New equipment, including training development suites and a full television production studio with virtual capability, has increased the Center’s capacity to provide high-impact training at a distance. Since 1993, CPSI has reached more than 1.9 million emergency and first responders, military personnel, and civilians in all 50 states and U.S. territories, as well as Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. Since 2002, more than 500 million viewers have had access to CPSI’s cable broadcasts.
